A Victorian plated tea pot, with ebonised wood handle and finial, standing approximately 8in tall to the top of the finial and measuring about 9.25in across from handle to spout. The base bears the mark for Henry Wigfull (L and W with an anchor), the letters EP and the number 32594 impressed.
The ebonising is wearing a little in places and the finial has a tendency to work loose. The plate is remarkably intact considering the pot's age with only a few minor dinks here and there and areas of tarnishing. It has been cleaned (it was black on acquisition) but would benefit from expert cleaning. This tea pot has been tested for leaks with boiling water then cooled and appears to be leak free. It also pours well. Probably late Victorian.
