A large vintage pierced cast metal cribbage board (probably scratch built and possibly for use in a public house) measuring approximately 12in long and about 3.25in wide. It stands on four metal legs about 1.375in high. The peg holes are not entirely straight (which is why we think this might be home made). The board itself is very heavy, too heavy for copper, and probably not bronze but probably heavy metal coated in copper. We are not absolutely sure on this.
One end of the board has a metal aperture, presumably to hold pegs, but there are no pegs with this. It may possibly even be that this aperture held a box like structure. If so, it is no longer there. The upper part of the board is divided by metal scoring into six sections. We have left the board uncleaned as we prefer it in this stage – it may be that any future buyer would prefer it in a more shiny state.
There are a few minor age related dinks and scratches but the board is structurally sound. Exact age unknown but believed to date from the earlier part of last century. Weighs just over 1kg.
