A vintage wooden (some ply) utility design box with plinth type base and overlapping rim.
The base measures approximately 6.625in by about 5.375in. The box itself measures about 5.375in by about 3.875in with the sides being 1.875in deep from the inner bottom to the top of the rim.
The outer rim measures just under 5.75in by 4.5in and the aperture just under 4.5in by just under 3.25in. The whole thing stands just under 3.5in deep to the highest point on the handle on the lid.
There are a few small dinks and what may be very tiny hairline cracks here and there, although they could be natural fissures. Otherwise the box is structurally sound.
Exact age unknown but probably dates from between the 1940s and 1970s.
