A vintage round wood and enamel lidded desktop tidy or vanity box, probably dating from around the 1960s or 1970s. The base of the box is primarily wood, with four enamelled roundels inserted at intervals.
The lid is made of metal, which is enamelled on the upper part, and has a wooden final. The lid is quite loose fitting. The wood has been cleaned and waxed but might benefit from further more expert cleaning. Inside the box, the base is slightly rough to touch and we do not know whether this was as a result of a (now removed) liner. The wood is slightly discoloured in one place and there are a few very minor nicks commensurate with age and wear. Otherwise the box is structurally sound.
The base of the box measures just under 4.75in in diameter at its widest, and the whole box, including the lid and finial, stands just under 3.5in high to the top of the finial (the base of the box, measured from the outside, stands just under 2in to the rim). Weighs just over 170g.
