A vintage, possibly antique, bone handled and steel cut throat razor. There is a groove at the end of the steel but we don’t know what the reason for this is (can someone enlighten us?). No visible makers marks.
There is some sediment on one side of the handle which is probably from an old label, but which we have been unable to remove. The steel shaft itself has oxidised and/or stained in places and would benefit from expert treatment but otherwise the razor is structurally sound and still sharp (although probably not sharp enough for a shave).
The closed razor measures approximately 6.25in long and the visible blade, when open, measures just under 4.25in at its longest. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first, or earlier, part of last century.
