A small carved figure of an elephant in ceremonial dress, with mahout riding, possibly made out of bone or ivory (we don’t think it is faux ivory due to the nature of the carving – the base itself unscrews which is not something that you would normally find in faux ivory).
The figure stands approximately 3in high to the top of the flagstaff, and is structurally sound. Exact age unknown but believed to date from the earlier part of last century, and probably made in India or Asia. Weighs just over 15g.
