A vintage lightweight wood fitted box and cover, with central plaque to the lid, depicting the head and shoulders of a lady in period dress.
The plaque appears to be made of polymer. Inside, the box is divided into three main compartments, with a narrow aperture towards the back. We are not sure what this box was used for, possibly to store stamps, possibly gaming counters etc, and it may be that the box was custom made or even scratch built.
The box has been cleaned but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. It is structurally sound, but there is a little water and other staining to the lid.
The box measures approximately 6.675in by just over 4in at the base and stands just under 2in high (about 2.25in high to the top of the raised central plaque on the lid). Weighs just over 220g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first or middle part of last century.
