A vintage, possibly antique, EPNS hot water jug with the name Mackay, and Dundee, impressed on the base.
The base is also stamped EPNS and there is what we believe a further makers mark within a shield which is badly rubbed and which we have been unable to decipher. We have been unable to find out any information on this maker, other than it exists. There are a number of numerals on the base which presumably are the model or pattern numbers.
The lid gaps a bit, but despite this (and probably because the lid has to be lifted before pouring), the jug is a good pourer. It has also been tested for leaks. There is some deterioration in the plate which we have tried to show in the photographs. Other than this, the jug is structurally sound.
The jug stands approximately 6.75in high to the top of the finial on the lid. Weighs almost 460g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first, or earlier, part of last century.
