A vintage heavy cast brass desk weight / coin or card tray heavily embossed with a Pixie or tommyknocker (given the semi industrial landscape surrounding the pixie) to the centre and with the words St Mawes below, with an embossed foliate outer band (possibly oak leaves and acorns).

Additional detail appears to be mushrooms, a snail, or possibly a wheel, and the pixe is probably holding a lantern. It is believed that the earlier use of this item would have been as an ashtray but it is nowadays more useful as a desk weight/tidy and/or coin or card tray.

The desk weight has been cleaned but might benefit from further cleaning (depending on your taste).

The desk weight measures approximately 4.5in in diameter at the other rim, and has a step of about 0.25in. Weighs just over 320g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from around the middle of last century.
