A vintage highly embossed (also known as relief work) silver tone metal wall platter (possibly coated metal or something like aluminium, although the weight of the platter belies this).
The wall platter depicts Don Quixote holding a shield and lance and astride his horse, Rochinante. The rim of the platter is embossed with shields, shells and what look like stylised leaves.
The platter has been lightly cleaned only as we did not wish to disturb the patina/surface in view of the uncertainty re the composition of the metal, and it might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning.
The platter measures approximately 11.5in in diameter and the depth of the central recess is about 1in at its deepest. There is a metal loop to the back of the platter so that it can be wall hung. Exact age unknown but probably date from the first part or middle of last century. Weighs around 870g.
Stand not included.
