A small carved stone, probably polished semi-translucent agate (rather than jade), figure in the form of an oriental bird with small inset red eyes.
The bird is beautifully fashioned and very tactile, and is relatively stable when placed on a flat surface.
The bird measures approximately 2in across from tail to tip of beak, and stands about 1.25in high. Weighs 21g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first part, or middle, of last century, and probably Chinese in origin.
