A curved crocodile deskweight made out of carved Warthog tusk measuring just under 6in long from tip of the tail to the end of the nose. The crocodile crouches on four integral carved legs.
There is a natural fissure along the tusk (see photographs) but otherwise the crocodile appears to be structurally sound. Exact age unknown. Weighs almost 85g.
Note: Warthog ivory is taken from the constantly growing canine teeth as part as Wildlife Management. The tusks, more often the upper set, are worked much in the way of elephant tusks with all designs scaled down. Tusks are carved predominantly for the tourist trade in East and Southern Africa.
