A long oriental black painted brush box (believed to be a Mah Jong rack) with painted five toed dragon detail. The upper part of the box slides back to reveal four hidden compartments, and the box would make a striking desktop desk tidy, with the front part as a pen rest and the inner compartments for paperclips, eraser, etc.
The paintwork is on the whole intact with some chips or wear to the paintwork. One of the two metal strips affixed to the right hand side has broken (see photographs). However, the lid opens adequately and the prices asked reflects this.
The box measures just under 16.5in by about 2.5in at the base and each compartment measures just over 3.75in long by about 1in wide. The box stands just over 1.125in deep to the top of the lid. Exact age unknown but believed to have some age.
