A vintage, possibly antique, postcard depicting two female figures and male figure, within an ebonised and glazed oval frame. On the back of the frame is a strip of paper indicating that this is Between Two Fires by Millet. The colours in the postcard are still vibrant. We did access the card beneath the frame and it is cut down to size.

However, we did note that the tariff on the postcard was one halfpenny, and given the likely date of the painting (circa 1892) and the date that the tariff on postcards was increased to one old penny (1918), we were able to place the card within that period.

There is a little damage to the front of the postcard which we have tried to show in the photograph. The frame itself is chipped a little, and the backing is held in place with drawing pins. The mounts to the back are missing and an ad hoc attachment has been made to allow the frame to be hung on a wall.

Otherwise the frame is structurally sound and measures approximately 6.5in by about 4.375in by just over 0.5in. The visible engraving measures about 5in by about 3in. Exact age unknown but believed to date from the earlier part of last century.
