A late Victorian or Edwardian electroplated Britannia Metal water jug or pot with ebony handle and lobed plated finial standing approximately 9in tall to the top of the finial. The base bears the mark for Fenton Bros (1897 to 1910), the letters EPBM and the number 1627 and 3 impressed underneath.

The ebony handle appears to have come loose at some stage as there is an old repair. The finial is slightly out of kilter. The plate is rather tarnished and in places is wearing very near the underlying metal (as you might expect of something this age and type of material as Britannia Metal is notorious for this kind of wear). There are also a few minor dinks. The pot has been cleaned (it was black on acquisition) but would benefit from expert cleaning.

Please note that the pot has been tested for leaks with boiling water slowly cooled, and no leaks were present. However, when poured, the jug poured unevenly and we believe that this is due to a slight "smile" in the lid. It might be possible to adjust this but the jug is sold in this condition. This is reflected in the price.
