A vintage gilded metal 1953 Elizabeth II Coronation medal presumably used at some stage to award to a sledging contest runner up.
The front of the medal bears, at the centre, the new Queen's head surrounded by enamelling with a wreath forming the outer circle. The back of the medal (the gilding to which is slightly worn) is inscribed SLEDGE RACE 2ND E YOUNG.
The medal measures approximately 1.625in in diameter excluding the loop. Weighs about 28g.
