A vintage, possibly antique, silvered metal case, which was presumably originally intended as a cigarette case, but was later (early last century?) used as a card case. The front and back are embossed in the Victorian style and the composition of the case is base metal or tin. The cards shown in the photographs were in the case when we came across it so that gives some indication of age (the postcode is an indication roughly of the time from when the lady concerned owned the case and cards).
The silvering is worn in places but otherwise the case is structurally sound.
The case measures just under 3.5in by about 2.375in and is just over 0.5in deep.
