As Found. A smallish vintage, probably 1950s, two compartment Sirram vanity/beauty box and contents, incorporating 4 vanity pots, a powder pot, and a bar of soap (thought not to be the original). The hinges and catch to the box appear to be in order.
The lid to the small compartment at the back is hinged but unfortunately the lid has quite a bit of oxidisation. There is also some staining in the compartment below and there is a musty odour to the box throughout.
There are three squat plastic based bottles with slightly oblong bases, each measuring approximately 2.125in by just under 2in at the bases and standing about 1.375in high to the top of the lid. There is a further, taller, bottle standing approximately 2.75in high to the top of the lid and measuring about 1.375in square at the base. The lids of all four bottles are metal with flesh coloured or light peach enamelling. The powder pot is made of metal and is relatively large. It measures approximately just under 2.75in in diameter at the base, standing about just under 1.375in high to the top of the lid. Inside the powder pot, there is a separate inner lid, to prevent spillage.
It appears that the inside of the lid of the box was once covered with foil or other reflective material, but this has deteriorated somewhat. There is some loss to the enamelling to the lids and to the cream coating on the inside of the box.
The box when closed measures approximately 7in by about 6.375in and stands just under 1.75in high.
