A large vintage Asian or Oriental figure, probably depicting a fieldworker. The exact type of wood is not known but is possibly, or similar to, coramandel.
The figure has been lightly cleaned only in order to retain what patina there is, but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. The figure is structurally sound but there are some natural fissures in the wood, and the triangular shape atop the yoke on the figure's shoulder towards the back has split (this might be repairable). In addition, the figure's right hand holds a sort of fork, the handle of which has broken off (see photographs). This is all reflected in the price.
The figure stands approximately 12.25in high from the bottom of the base to the top of his hat. Weighs over 575g. Exact age unknown but believed to date from around the first, or middle, part of last century.
