A boxed set of six antique silver handled buffet or tea knives.
The handles are stippled in an attractive design and bear the hallmarks for William Hutton and Sons Ltd, assayed in Sheffield and with the date mark believed to be for 1910. The remainder of the knives are marked WH SA (which we believe represents A grade silver plate although we cannot be certain of this). The fitted interior of the box is lined with green sateen and plush.
There is evidence of wear to the (non-silver) part of the knives commensurate with age and use, and on some knives, the handle is parting from the blade, although the knives themselves remain structurally sound. The box has a few scuffs (ditto) but otherwise is structurally sound.
The buffet knives each measure just under 7in in length.
