A vintage, possibly antique, plated metal engraved crumb scoop with what is believed to be a celluloid or other polymer handle, and an embossed hallmarked silver collar.
The plated metal scoop itself bears the marks for a well known silversmith, William Hutton and Sons (1864 to 1930) and the silver collar bears a Sheffield assay mark with the date mark, as far as we can work out, of 1905. However this hallmark is rather small and indistinct in places. We have not been able to identify the maker (or at least a maker whose dates of operation tallies with the aforementioned date mark).
The scoop has been cleaned, but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. The handle itself, whilst being structurally sound, does have some cracks, which is not unusual in something of this age. It is also rather discoloured, which is again not unusual. There plated scoop is a little worn in places but this has proved a little difficult to show in the photographs. This is reflected in the price.
The scoop measures approximately 13.375in length from the tip of the metal part to the tip of the handle.
