A vintage, possibly antique, miniature wood and bone lute or Shamisen, a Japanese musical instrument, often depicted as being played by Geishas, and measuring approximately 3in long.
Although structurally sound, there are a couple of condition elements in that some of the little strings appear to be missing, and one at least as broken. At the base of the lute, there is some substance that we haven’t been able to remove, possibly glue. There are three keys only, and we believe there may have been more.
Other than this, this is a lovely little item. Weighs less than 4g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first part of last century.
