A vintage hammered pewter dish and cover by Travis Wilson under the Manor Period Sheffield Pewter mark, acquired by them from A Milns in 1926 and used until 1939.

NOTE: As with most vintage pewter, lead may have formed part of the composition (a practice not proscribed until 1974) and it is therefore not now considered suitable for food storage or use with food.

The dish and cover have been lightly cleaned only in order to retain the patina, and may benefit from further, more expert, cleaning depending on the buyers preference for shiny as opposed to aged pewter. We consider patina to be part of its provenance and so we do not remove it.

The dish (that is the base), originally intended for use as a cheese dish, we believe, measures approximately 6.75in by about 6in and, with the cover, stands approximately 3.5in high to the top of the handle on the lid. Weighs almost 670g.
