An antique glass hat pit or hair pin holder with hallmarked English silver cover. The cover has a hole fashioned into it so that hat or hair pins can be dropped into it.
The hallmark on the cover is for Birmingham 1912 with the makers mark for TH Hazlewood and Co. The cover fits rather tightly and can be difficult to remove, and this might account for the dinks in the silver (see below).
The glass base is structurally sound but there is a small chip to the rim, which would usually be hidden by the cover. The cover itself has quite a few small dinks to the silver but any buyer might be able to straighten these out. Otherwise the base and cover are structurally sound.
The glass base measures just under 2.5in in diameter and the base and cover together stand just under 3.5in high. Together, they weigh just over 120g.
