A small antique silver mounted glass pot with hallmarked English silver cover.
The hallmark on the cover is for Birmingham 1900 but we have been unable to decipher the makers mark. The cover fits snugly. The white metal mount to the glass base is believed to be silver, but we have been unable to find a hallmark there. It could be that the design (floral) is so intricate it was not possible to impress a hallmark (although why they didn’t use the shoulder is anyone’s guess).
The pot and its mounts have been cleaned, but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. The cover itself has a few very small dinks to the silver and the glass base is sound with only a few nibbles to the rim, commensurate with age and use. Otherwise the base and cover are structurally sound.
The glass pot measures just under 1.75in in diameter at its widest point and the base and cover together stand approximately 1.5in high. Together, they weigh just over 43g.
