A vintage trumpet or bugle vase epergne with embossed rim and base with a hallmark for Birmingham 1946. Sadly, the silversmith’s mark is slightly rubbed (a Z and a small J?) and we have been unable to identify it.
The vase has been cleaned (it was almost black) but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. Structurally sound, the vase does have some slight surface scratching commensurate with age and use, and there are some black marks to the main body that have proved difficult remove.
The vase sits stably when placed on a flat surface. The base of the vase is covered with faux leather, and is probably filled to add weight and stability.
The vase stands just over 6.5in to the top of the rim, which itself measures approximately 3.25in in diameter. The base measures just over 2.5in in diameter. Weighs just under 180g.
