A vintage, possibly antique, electroplated coffee pot with the silversmith’s mark of JRandS followed by a star and a Maltese Cross and the letters EP impressed on the base.
We believe this might be the mark for Joseph Rodgers and Son (as far as we can work out the production dates run from 1682 to mid 1960s). We believe the coffee pot dates to the later end of production. The base is further impressed with the words Strand Trebarwith within a circle but we have been unable to find out any further information.
The pot has been cleaned, but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. The jug is a good pourer and has also been tested for leaks. There is a slight dink to one side of the jug, which we have tried to show in the photographs. Other than this, the jug is structurally sound with only the usual evidence of age and wear commensurate with use.
The jug stands just under 6.5in high to the top of the finial on the lid and measures just under 3.25in in diameter at the base. Weighs almost 460g. Exact age unknown but probably dates from the first part of last century, or earlier.
