A small antique plated metal snuff box with hinged lid, believed to date from the early 1900s.
This was found amongst various items inherited from Jane’s mother (born 1927) and we have no idea of who it belonged to prior to that.
The box has been cleaned but might benefit from further, more expert, cleaning. The plating appears to have a slightly yellow tinge but this is believed to be due to age and wear. Although the plate is worn in places, the box is structurally sound and the hinge and lid are quite strong considering the age of this item.
The lid is engraved with a floral design, with a central vacant cartouche to the centre.
The snuff box measures approximately 2in by 1.25in and is about 0.5in deep. Believed to be British in origin. Weighs around 25g.
